Placer County is one of the most lovely wine regions in Northern California.
On a recent trip to check out the new vintages, we hoped for tasty wines (check), a nice setting (check) and a little something to nosh on. Woman (or man) can not live on wine alone, although we may try. A tactical error was made in our planning, which we will share with you now, so you don’t make the same mistake. We started out with empty tummies.
We should have started our Placer adventure with a substantial meal at Four Sisters Cafe in Rocklin, where the breakfast is legendary among the locals. One of the things that makes this spot so special is the fact that everything is hand-made…right down to the syrup.
Check out that coffee bar! I love the hot chocolate with a dollop of whipped cream…perfect to get the day started.
The restaurant’s namesakes are these lovely ladies, four actual sisters who give new meaning to the term “family business.”
While you’re savoring your mango-stuffed French toast or mancakes, pull our your Placer County Wine Trail map and plan your day.
My favorite wineries in this region include Lone Buffalo and Wise Villa, but there are 20 great wineries to savor in this part of the wine country. Fill your tummy first…it’s going to be a great day.
