An excursion on the Placer County Wine Trail is a great way to sample some delicious wines and get to know the winemakers up close. One of our favorite venues in this relatively young wine making region is Wise Villa.
Wise Villa offers the novices and experts alike the opportunity to taste the winery’s award-winning vintages paired with gourmet cuisine. After all, wine was made to be enjoyed with food!
The beautiful stone-accented bistro, with its compelling wall of windows looking out into the vineyards, is an ideal spot for enjoying wine and food with friends. You’ll likely have the opportunity to meet co-owner Dr. Grover Lee, winemaker Kevin Luther and chef James Herzig during your visit. The team is extremely approachable. One of the best perks of visiting an up-and-coming wine region is the absence of the snob factor!
Wise Villa plays host to special events year-round including a community grape stomp reminiscent of a vintage I Love Lucy episode. Ladies bring out their white dresses (which end up a fine maroon color by the end of the night) for the old-fashioned stomp, and the entire festive event ends with food and drink for all.
Gourmet 7-course winemaker dinners, and a full-moon harvest party are some of the fun events hosted by Wise Villa. There’s even a Cinco de Mayo party, complete with tapas and entertainment.
Wines pair with chef’s gourmet plates are offered daily. Tours of the winery and vineyard, complete with the history and an inside look at the making of these lush wines are offered at 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm, and 4 pm on Fridays; 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, and 2:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Tours are $5 per person and require a reservation.
To make the most of your visit to Wise Villa, we recommend a day-long or two-day excursion through the Placer County Wine Trail. Learn more about Wise Villa here and the Placer County Wine Trail here.
